PAWS to Read (Ages 5-12)

PAWS to Read (Ages 5-12) In-Person

Meet Rune, the wonderful golden retriver and trained therapy dog who will be spending time at HSL for PAWS to Read!

What is PAWS to Read?

PAWS to Read is a program that pairs a licensed therapy dog with children looking to practice their literacy skills and gain confidence in their reading ability. Dogs provide judgement free ears to listen while your kiddo reads aloud. What better way to practice reading than with a dog?

How does it work?

  • Rune and the reader will sit in the Meeting Room and read together. Susan, Rune’s human, will also stay in the room. Parents are welcome to stay as well, or they can hang out in the Children’s Room during the session, whatever works best!
  • Participants will have 15 minutes to spend reading with Rune.
  • Arrive 5 minutes before your timed slot and make sure you remember to bring a book!

Rune is so excited to start this reading adventure!

Rune will have four available time slots. Please register for one 15 minute session.
